R. Barri Flowers is an award winning, bestselling literary criminologist with more than forty published books and over two dozen short stories to his credit.
The author's published mystery novels include the legal thrillers, STATE'S EVIDENCE (Dorchester, 2006), JUSTICE SERVED (Dorchester, 2005), and PERSUASIVE EVIDENCE (Dorchester, 2004)
JUSTICE SERVED was nominated for a Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice Award.
R. Barri Flowers bestselling true crime book, THE SEX SLAVE MURDERS (St. Martin's Press, 1996) was excerpted in Cosmopolitan magazine and the basis for a September 2008 episode of the new Investigation Discovery channel series, Wicked Attraction.
The episode will explore the sex-related serial murders of husband and wife Gerald and Charlene Gallego, who murdered ten people in the Western U.S. in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
A number of the author's short story thrillers are part of the Amazon Shorts program, including "Ripper-Part 1," "Deception-Part-1," "Gone But Not Forgotten" "No Going Back," and "The Jury Has Spoken."
He has also contributed a mystery story, "Death by Trial and Error, to the mystery anthology, MURDER ACROSS THE MAP (Top Publications, 2005).
The author's noir story, "The Wrong End of A Gun Barrel," will appear in SEATTLE NOIR in the spring of 2009.
Apart from writing fiction, Flowers is a distinguished criminologist and has written such bestselling criminology titles as "SEX CRIMES: PREDATORS, PERPETRATORS, PROSTITUTES, AND VICTIMS (Charles C Thomas, 2006), MURDERS IN THE UNITED STATES (McFarland, 2004), and KIDS WHO COMMIT ADULT CRIMES (Haworth, 2002).
His criminology books, FEMALE CRIME, CRIMINALS AND CELLMATES, DRUGS, ALCOHOL, AND CRIMINALITY IN AMERICAN SOCIETY, and THE ADOLESCENT CRIMINAL, will soon be released in softcover by McFarland in 2008.
Flowers recently received the Wall of Fame Award from Michigan State University's renowned School of Criminal Justice.
Along with the MWA, the author is a member of the American Crime Writers League, International Thriller Writers, Kiss of Death, and Sisters in Crime writing organizations.
R. Barri Flowers is the editor of MURDER PAST, MURDER PRESENT, a mystery collection titled, by award-winning, bestselling mystery author members of the American Crime Writers League. The anthology will be published in the summer of 2009.
