There You Are

I am freezing in the United Kingdom. All that time in humid and warm Virginia has left me completely unable to take the cold weather - I never liked it much anyway. Thought about my favorite saying - "No matter where you are, there you are." I don't know where it came from. Told my famous photographer friend about it. He put it up on Facebook.  Nice one!

Building

There is an old ice warehouse in the middle of town. I have taken gentlemen from the jail, on work programs to remove the graffiti. It was adorned this Sunday with a giant replica of the twin towers. I took a picture and will send it to the jail to let them see it.

Sing Song

Wrote a song. My first. Will it go anywhere or end up in my sock drawer, only time will tell.......

Steamie

It's hot and steamy, as I am writing away, here in Virginia. "Steamie" is the Scots word for the place you take your laundry. People would "gae tae ra steamie", so to speak.

Goodnight Irene

I and 65 million other people on the Eastern seaboard wait for Irene to come. Telly is on, Megashark vs Crocosaurus. Pizza on the way. I think that's all the bases covered......hand-tossed not thin crust.

Shaken then Stirred

Car took swipe in the shockwave of the quake, on the freeway. Shaken. Gave a talk at a conference on drug abuse, now waiting to be stirred by Hurricane Irene moving this way......the Californians say a quake of this size is just something they use to stir their coffee. Love that West Coast bravado.

Sinistra

I think I got the Latin right. August 13 is National Left Hand Day. Not sure if that is only in the U.K. or U.S. as well. I will celebrate anyway by doing what I usually do - doing things left-handed. It seems there is a still a radio station which broadcasts in Latin, in Finland. Must see if I can pick it up next to the BBC World Service.

Meltdown

My flip flops melted in the New York heat. I should have worn the cardboard ones, I made from pizza boxes, on my way to the tv studios. I've never known heat like this in NY. I like it, if there is not too much moving around to be done.

4th of July

Went to a 4th of July party. It was very sweet. Played a few tunes on the guitar in the Gazebo. Haven't played in one before. Good fun. Happy 4th of July. Back to the book......

My Word is My Bond

Blogging about James Bond. Love writing about the genre. Such fond memories of watching these films in a rainy, windy  Scotland. I particularly liked the exotic locations. I was so thrilled when, years later, I made it to Jamaica and it was everything I hoped it would be. Love the place.
