Welcome Note

Thanks for stopping by. I have figured as a small-timer among crime-writing giants. A story of mine, "Wilson's Man," ran in the January 2008 Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine (I was edged out of top billing by Dashiell Hammett). Another story of mine, "Fire Lines," appeared in the 2002 Anthony-winning (best cover!) anthology, Measures of Poison (Dennis McMillan Publications). The story nestles precariously alongside works by James Crumley, George P. Pelecanos, Michael Connelly, Howard Browne, Charles Willeford, Jon A. Jackson, James Sallis (the short story version of "Drive," now a major motion picture, as they say), and several others.

I have another story, "The Docile Shark," in the December 2010 EQMM. My debut story for Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine, "Sheltered Assets," appears in the March 2012 issue. I also represent Portland, Oregon, with the story "Bridget's Conception" in West Coast Crime Wave. My agent is shopping my first novel, Jailhouse Pale, and I am working on a second novel. Both are heists.
