"... a brisk, breezy spoof of a popular gentlemen's magazine called Ogle located in Hollywood during 1965. Interoffice politics, sex, drugs (the newest is LSD), centerfold shoots ("Eyefuls"), and general anarchy reign at Ogle. Tongue-in-cheek, the 1960s social satire (Playboy, the "rabbit rag," isn't spared) rolls out in a smooth, droll fashion that would make the late, great Richard Prather proud. Trouble begins when Ogle's frog logo tumbles off the office building's marquee sign and kills Nick Hobart, Vice-President of Circulation.

"Sensational writing, mordant wit, an intricate crime puzzle, and a duo of private eyes as wonky and offbeat as the mind of Dick Lochte." HARLAN ELLISON

""How the devil does Lochte manage to write hard-boiled formal mysteries that are also charming? Laughing Dog id more fun than a day at the dog races." JOE GORES

"Few capture California better." KIRKUS REVIEWS

Series Name: Leo and Serendipity
Category: Comedy-thriller
Main Character: Leo Bloodworth and Serendipity Dahlquist
A tale of sunny, smoggy Southern California, where a precocious teenager can hire a hardboiled, bourbon-seasoned private eye to find her missing dog and send both of them on a wild and woolly adventure involving dogfights, bank theft, the Mexican Mafia, a beautiful woman of mystery and an extremely ruthless murderer.

"Outclasses, in many ways, the tales of Raymond Chandler, Ross Macdonald and other reknowned California mystery writers ... A corker entertainment, uncontrived and satisfying." PUBLISHER'S WEEKLY
