Like her character Claudia Rose, Sheila Lowe is a forensic handwriting expert who testifies in handwriting-related cases. She also writes non-fiction books about handwriting, including The Complete Idiot's Guide to Handwriting Analysis (Alpha) and Handwriting of the Famous & Infamous (Thunder Bay). The first book in her Forensic Handwriting Mystery series got a starred review from Publisher's Weekly, and won a prize in the Best Books USA. Written in Blood was on the Independent Booksellers Assn top ten list.
